Might be because the dogs, cats, frogs, etc haven't been breeding humans…
Whilst in a meeting today I received a phone call and voice message from my sister. The iPhone did its best to provide a transcript of her message. She asked for proof of continued signs of life, so I used the data synced by the blood glucose meter’s iOS app to send her a week’s worth of my blood sugar diary.
There was a stubborn scrap of adhesive from a label on my new stainless steel kettle. Wouldn’t come off with fingernails or steel wool.
A quick squirt of eucalyptus oil spray soon shifted that.
Waited much of the day for notification from Apple that the new MagSafe cable was ready for collection so I drove to the store concerned anyway, a trip of some 45 minutes duration.
I checked my email and lo and behold! There was the notification, sent about two minutes after I set out on my trek.
This new cable works properly, the old one is quite useless.
Properly annoyed. Had to order a new MagSafe 3 to USB-C cable for the MacBook Air, when I returned home from my sightseeing outing down memory lane I discovered the MagSafe end of the cable was submerged in the dregs of an almost finished cup of tea on the floor of the loungeroom.
I thought I had dried it out successfully but once the laptop's charge reached 73% the LED on the MagSafe ent was alternating between orange (charging) and off (doing nothing). In reality, the charging had stopped, enough delicate circuitry was frazzled that it was no longer capable of delivering a full charge.
Fortunately one can charge such a machine via USB-C/Thunderbolt as well.
The earliest I can get one is Tuesday if I pick it up from an Apple store or Thursday if it's delivered.
Added chopped carrot and broccoli to a tub of prepared tomato and beef pasta sauce, thinned out with water then simmered to reduce the consistency and cook the veggies. Once satisfied with the sauce I broke an egg into the sauce and simmered it again for six minutes to poach the egg. The yolk was still runny, and it was served on wholemeal toast with a ladle of the sauce over the top. Healthy and tasty dinner.
@japchap It’s just a hobby machine now. There are certain games that never made it past the 64-bit barrier and aI just love the keyboard on those pre-Unibody Macs. I do have an M1 Mac mini and an 15-in M3 MacBook Air for modern computing.
It's becoming increasingly difficult to use this old 2008 MacBook Pro online as it's a 2008 model and can't run any OS newer than macOS 11 El Capitan.
A friend has a similar Mac running Ventura via the open Core Legacy Patcher and his Mac has Apple's theoretical RAM limit of 4 GB installed. However, it's possible to use 6 GB, I know because this Mac has that much.
I downloaded a recording of a friend’s funeral as an mp4 file. I then burned that to DVD using Toast 20. Next I used Disk Utility to create a disk image from the DVD.
Next I changed the suffix from .dmg to .dvdmedia. The .dmg icon changed immediately to that shown in the attachment. When the icon was double-clicked, it immediately opened in VLC Player and started playing.
Interesting price difference re the blood glucose level test strips that the monitoring device uses, I've see prices online of up to $50 foe 100 strips. However, if I go to a pharmacy and quote my National Diabetic Support Service (NDSS) registration number, I get them at the subsidised price of $1.20.
