I spotted my forearm crutches in the garage today as I headed for the charging station where the mobility scooter was located:I needed to bring in a 120 litre and 240 litre rubbish and recycling bins from the kerb some 50 metres from my front door. That sort of duty can't be done with the rollator walker but the scooter has hooks on the rear to carry walkers. These hooks are also OK for carrying the bins.
The smaller rubbish bin fits neatly inside the larger recycling bin, so I only needed one trip.
Upon my retureI tried walking a little bit with the crutches. It's a viable method as long as I don't need to carry any large or awkward objects. Movement with the crutches hurts the recovering knee less than using the walker.
@matigo Sometime last year Apple changed the way AppleCare+ worked, if you needed service instead of having to pay a fee and only being allowed 2 incidents per 12 months, they changed that to unlimited incidences of accidental damage.
@matigo Well, they ship with a complimentary 7-day AppleCare+ coverage, I've just checked the refurbished website and you can have AppleCare+ added up to 60 days after purchase.
Two deliveries expected today: a pair of Apple Refurbished 2nd generation HomePods and a height and width-adjustable armchair of the type used in the rehab hospital's gyms.
The price of the refurbished HomePods plus two years of AppleCare+ coverage is still less than the new cost of the two HomePods.
@variablepulserate Indeed. It's been beneficial for my lower back, too. I can stand over the kitchen sink without significant pain for a lot more the the previous 2 minute limit.
A week or so ago I struggled to complete the physiotherapist-specified exercises. Since then, I have increased the number of repetitions by ⅓ and increased the tension of the latex resistance bands I was using. It's all quite achievable now. In a week I'll be having a telephone interview with the local hospital organisation's physiotherapy clinic to determine my needs and frequency of attendance plus exercises needed. There is a cost associated with these sessions, not onerous, just $10 per session.
I had a thought, but unfortunately I had a second thought. They ricocheted off each other and I can't find either anymore.
@variablepulserate Something will it is inevitable with a project such as this.
Over the next week there will be extensive work done locally on three main roads in this suburb. Each of the roads will close for 24 hours where the railway level crossing infrastructure will be removed. Buses will replace passenger trains for at least ten days and the existing railway station will be demolished, leaving only the foundations for the new elevated railway station which will come into service on June 3rd, along with another new ground level station a few km further east where a new housing development has needed public transport infrastructure.
At the same time as each rail crossing is removed, crews will be joining the existing twin railway tracks and overhead electrical cables to the new 2.5 km long elevated railway which will replace the three railway crossings and house the new station.
It's going to be a bit hectic over the next couple of weeks but at the end, no vehicle travelling north/south through the area will have to stop for any trains.
