The entire display of my 15-in M3 MacBook Air has been replaced, plus the ambient light sensor. All of this was because the compressed rubber gasket between the edge of the glass and the inner edge of the aluminium shell of the cover became partially dislodged. The value of the repair was A$932, but I paid nothing because it was done under warranty.
So all the chips and scratches that were on the edges of the lid plus a scratch on the glass itself are gone, replaced with new kit.
MacBook Air evaluated for warranty repair on Sunday. Parts (display) ordered that day. Monday:Public holiday. Tuesday: Parts arrived, Mac dropped off for screen replacement. Wednesday: no news, didn’t check. Thursday evening, 5:30 pm: Ready for pickup, repair completed, which I shall do tomorrow.
Dropped the MacBook Air off at the Apple Store, the replacement screen has arrived. Barring liquid damage the repair will be covered under warranty and the repair will have three years of further warranty: 1 year from Apple and two under the Australian Consumer regulations.
MacBook Air needs about three days in the Apple Store to have its screen replaced, they don’t have one in stock but will call me when they have one. I have AppleCare+ on this device, there will be some cost but nowhere near that of a new screen.
Got a Genius bar appointment tomorrow at the nearest Apple Store: the rubber seal around the screen of my M3 MacBook Air has partially come adrift on the left side, it just needs some glue but I’ve nothing suitable.
@matigo No way. I'm perfectly fine with my choice. After all, if you hold off purchase because something better/cheaper in coming, you'll never upgrade.
The difference a year makes in Apple laptop pricing. I can no longer get the same specification of M3 15-in MacBook Air that I bought last year because now when you specify 512 GB of storage, the processor core count is automatically bumped up from 8 to 10. The price has also dropped A$700 for that configuration.
Don't get old.
Just learned I'll probably need another iron infusion, the last one was in April of 2024 and in May of 2023 I needed a blood transfusion and iron infusion due to low haemoglobin level. It was 74g/l in '23 and a week after the procedure, was back above 120. In August '24it was a healthy 129g/L but now it's dropped to 106 g/L. My GP has referred me to a GI specialist, but the earliest available appointment is mid April.
The receptionist whom I contacted said the doctors triage all faxed and emailed referrals to prioritise treatment so it's possible that an earlier timeslot is available. The letter mentions semi-urgent, so that may be a deciding factor.
Right. I’ve taken a couple of ibuprofen tablets and obtained a degree of pain relief.
