Helped out my sister who has to replace her mobile phone, she ordered one of very few Nokia 7.2s from a retailer who only sends purchase links via SMS. Because my sister is using a dumb phone she can’t act on such links, so she arranged for me to receive the SMS, which I opened on my MacBook Pro in Messages app.
I hit the pay link while on a VPN & entered her credit card details & all was well. She was quite put out that her dumb phone couldn’t allow her Windows laptop to access text messages.

Very compact, nicely set up. Did you do anything special or different for Invasion Day?

NextCloud to the rescue! I’d been trying to work out why I couldn’t use the automobile club’s website to pay my annual roadside assist payment that was due today - the past three years I’d been late paying it & didn’t want a repeat of that confusion.
I could access the Payments section on the website but it wasn’t recognising my membership number against the selected product I wanted to pay for.
On the website’s services summary page I could see the membership expired today but when I hit the Payments button, it just said “there appears to be no payment needed.”
I had tried BPay with my online banking earlier in the week but that kept saying the biller code didn’t match the customer reference number.
I never considered looking at PayPal, having had issues with my car insurance payment taking an inordinately long time to come through (my insurance is via the auto club).
So I entered the amount due in Spotlight & it directed me to the Web Receipts folder in NextCloud (via 10C) which syncs the Web Receipt folders on two Macs. The receipt therein showed full payment had been made on Dec 30th.
Via PayPal, despite having decided a few months earlier never to use that system for payments to the auto club.

Funny how Seasonal Affective Disorder should use the SAD acronym…

The forecast is good, mid-20s Celsius. Sunny day.

I wonder how big my late friend’s funeral will be tomorrow morning? The family have asked me as a friend and as current Men’s Shed group President to speak of the Shed’s experiences of the fellow who was a member for between 6 & 7 years.

Covid restrictions are rather more lax than when we were in four months of lockdown, they allow 100 in the chapel & 150 outside, plus the service will be streamed.

I have trouble walking these days, & parking is at a premium in the area. Fortunately it’s just under 300 metres between my front door & the chapel, with either a rollator walker or preferably a single forearm crutch, I should be able to manage it.

It turns out that around about the time of my previous post, my friend stepped on a rainbow, passing peacefully from this world. He’ll be sorely missed by many folk, not least his wife of over 60 years.
