A Lovely 10C Site!

One of my brothers visited today & replaced my 40+ year old toilet bowl & cistern with a new one that’s much more efficient with the amount of water it uses per flush, a maximum of 6 litres vs the old one that worked with about 15 litres a time. The old one had a momentary flush mode, it would stop once you released the button while the new has 6 litre full flush or 3 litres half flush. It’s fitted with slow-close hinges on the seat & lid so they no longer close with a loud clunk, instead they just slowly ease down into place.
The pic shows an unpainted area of the walk, this was where the old cistern was located.

An archive or treasure trove…
In cleaning up our late mother’s house my two sisters discovered a cache of letters Dad had written home to friends & family between 1941 & 1946 while serving as a signaller for an artillery regiment in Palestine, New Guinea, Indonesia & Borneo. His wit was of the rather dry variety & locally he was renowned for his quirky humorous writing style.
I have yet to read any of these letters but I’ve been told that they are quite funny in places. I’m rather looking forward to reading them - provided I can decipher his handwriting.

Picked up a Kindle Paperwhite 11 to replace my Paperwhite 10 that was slow to respond to input and losing battery performance.
Found a 30% discount on the new price on an Amazon Prime Day deal.
Surprisingly, a big office supples chain has replicated the same price structure for the Kindle models it sells.

Satisfying my Vimto squash cravings. I finished one bottle a few minutes ago, there’s enough in another bottle for a few mixed drinks. I found an Amazon seller with local stock: their minimum order is three bottles, each of one litre capacity. They’re reasonably priced so I placed an order for a pack of three bottles. Delivery expected by 8pm Sunday. Right now it’s just after 1am on Saturday.
