A brief history of Physics.
Aristotle said a bunch of stuff that was wrong. Galileo and Newton fixed things up. Then Einstein broke everything again. Now, we’ve basically got it all worked out, except for small stuff, big stuff, hot stuff, cold stuff, fast stuff, heavy stuff, dark stuff, turbulence, and the concept of time.
@variablepulserate Someone suggested they need to shift a bunch of the 13-inchers, but that’s illogical. The design is just that little bit different with the addition of the MagSafe port, the 2020 version didn’t have enough room between the Thunderbolt ports & the hinge to fit a comparatively lobg MagSafe port. The things are made from recycled aluminium anyway & could be recycled again if excess stock was the problem.
@streakmachine The cut-off date for Ventura is 2017 for MacBook Pros & iMacs. The oldest machines supported by macOS Ventura are from 2017, so there’s still life in your old Intel-powered machines yet. Here’s a full breakdown of the supported Macs for Ventura:
iMac – 2017 and later
iMac Pro
MacBook Air – 2018 and later
MacBook Pro – 2017 and later
Mac Pro – 2019 and later
Mac Mini – 2018 and later
MacBook – 2017 and later
@variablepulserate One YouTube video seen today questioned the need for the 13-in MacBook Pro given that the price difference between similarly-specified M2 MBAs & M2 MBPs are so close. The 10-core Air with 8 GB RAM & 256 GB storage is AU$50 more than the Pro of the same specs. All the Pro offers is slightly faster performance due to a fan & longer battery life by 2 hours and the divisive Touchbar.
But it has a smaller screen, 720p webcam vs 1080p for the Air & is thicker & heavier.
THat video suggests the next logical step up from the M2 Air is the base model 14-in Pro.
When I make you breakfast in bed, a simple "thank you" is enough. I don't need all this "who are you and how did you get in my house?" bullshit.
In six months of ownership, this M1 MacBook Air has achieved 77 full charge cycles of its battery. It was purchased from the Apple Refurbished stock & when first started up had zero charge cycles.
Oddly, in that same timeframe I have replaced the USB-C charging cable twice: once under warranty after the first one failed within 25 days and once again, this time with the cable that shipped with the 2017 MacBook Pro.
There’s something amiss with Apple USB-C cables, methinks.
@matigo Amazon has set up delivery boxes at two nearby shopping centres. They shove your package into whichever receptacle best suits its size and SMS you a code to open the box when you are physically there. Even the Post Office is getting in on the game, setting up their boxes beside the Amazon ones.
@variablepulserate I have similar issues with the 7th gen iPod Touch, the soecifications claim it could do 40 hours of video, which is absolute rubbish.
@variablepulserate In a wimper, not a bang. I do regret not buying an iPod Nano 7 when they were still around.
