A member of the Mac User Group who's now in an Aged Care facility wants to know why, in iOS 10, the ability to trash ALL emails en masse has been removed.

I found a workaround, but it's an extreme one: EVERY email gets deleted or archived. This lady has 2000 emails to deal with.

OF ALL THE SILLIEST, COCKED-UP IDEAS TO FIX A CRANKY MAC, THIS TAKES THE CAKE. I couldn't, despite multiple restarts, get the search window in Launchpad (my preferred app launcher) on the MacBook Air to respond. No problems with the action on the MacBook Pro. Wanna know what the cure is? Log out of the user account then log back in.
Yep, as simple as that.

Reckon I need a new blade in the Merkur slant-bar safety razor. I had to make anout 6 passes with that one & 2 passes with another to get the customary close shave. Normally I can get by with three passes of the slant-bar.

It's been a while since I used the 5th gen iPod Touch: 97 apps need updating. Plus, it hasn't backed up to iClod (sic) for 4 weeks. Naturally the battery was dead flat, too.

Every time I plan on doing a Time Machine backup on Yosemite or newer, I open Terminal & enter "sudo sysctl debug.lowprithrottleenabled=0" - this stops it from being a background operation so it usually finishes before a clone even if both backups start together.
That use of Terminal is active for the login session only: if you restart or log out, it has to be redone for the next session.
There is a more complex process to make the setting permanent, but I'll just stick with what I know & can manage easily.

About 28 minutes remaining for the Time Machine backup. Nope, less than 5 minutes later the backup was completed.

Been trying to find a travel powerboard in a little zipped bag, it has 2 x 240 v AC outlets & 4 x USB charging ports (max of 4.2 A) but it ain't here. I'm pretty sure it's at Mum's place, I definitely used it there last time I visited her.

2011 MBP lacks USB 3, so I'm doing a Time Machine backup over Thunderbolt 1 and concurrently, a clone via FireWire 800. I do have a Thunderbolt/USB 3/Gigabit Ethernet adaptor but that's in another room.

Achievement unlocked. MBP has been used on battery for 20% of the time it's been awake for the last 30 days & on battery 89% of the active time in the last 7 days. Info via FruitJuice app.

Crash! Clatter! Crunch! The cat is perched atop a storage cupboard that's in a wardrobe in one of the bedrooms. She's spotted a cable hanging down from the shelf above and tugged at it. The cable was attached to one of two 1994 Apple Design keyboards on that shelf. They are large, heavy keyboards.
