Rereading a space opera series of 8 Kindle books, I came upon a section which referred to an elderly design of freighter spacecraft. In the book it's an ED-4, quite clearly chosen as it's one better than the DC-3; just as HAL-9000 was one better than IBM.
That worked out well. To avoid a clash with a committee meeting & a volunteer charity food parcel delivery next week, I rescheduled it by swapping delivery dates with another volunteer. Just got the call from the society member who I'd have assisted, she said there were no clients requiring help tonight. So that's it for that mob until just before Christmas.
Friend bought his wife a new 21.5-inch iMac. It was horribly slow & sometimes wouldn't restart. He took it back & it failed the hardware test, so he got a refund. Having had his fingers burned, so to speak, he bought a 27-in 5k iMac with a Fusion drive instead. This one works fine. Exceptionally fast, his wife is mighty happy with it.
Emergency services iOS app updated. It wanted a new password, existing one was no good. Had to have at least 6 characters, a combination of uppercase, lowercase & numbers.
Unimpressed, I chose "Wank123."
