There is the Counter.social example as a different way. It started as a Federarted Mastodon Instance but became a more isolated aspect when, for “security” reasons Federation was turned off. Also, the founder of Mastodon isn’t so keen on that non-Federated part, but it’s an option.

You would certainly be able to set up an instance then isolate it from outside by shutting down Federation. It will work with existing & new Mastodon app, too.

25,500 km driven in the last twelve months in the car I bought exactly a year ago.

Later today the Men’s Shed group will get a visit from a rep from the organisation’s State governing body, bringing a new toy for us.

Over the last four years, a particular charitable trust has funded the purchase & distribution of more than 60 defibrillators (with storage/mounting cabinets).
We made an application for consideration in the latest allocation ballot and were successful, the man will deliver the device & its cabinet in exchange for a cup of coffee.
The Secretary’s wife decided to bake scones to celebrate the gift, he tells us they should still be warm when he arrives at around 10 am.

I used to use Pathfinder version 5.5.8, I notice via email that version 8 is now available. My preference now is CommanderOne Pro which I scquired free via a special deal a couple of years ago.

Limited knowledge of Forklift other than that it’s available as part of the Setapp subscription package.

I was recently given a jar of lightly-pickled asparagus.
Seems to be more oil the vinegar involved in the preservation process.

Just down the road a bit is where some 90% of the nation’s supply of asparagus is grown.

Just met a fellow walking 2 km from the railway station to the pub. He was my best friend for 18 years from the age of 5 until we went off on our own careers. He lost his driving licence due to alcohol over 20 years ago & hasn’t bothered driving since.
Works on demolition jobs, gets picked up & dropped off at a boarding house near the city, comes back out to visit his parents each week by rail with a booze break at a pub in this town, about halfway through the trip.
No, I’m not going to join him, I’m just not a big boozer anymore.

You certainly see a different side of humanity when delivering food/financial assistance to those in need. One person today has two teenage kids & another who's 7 and has a partner in jail for domestic violence. She takes 40 tablets daily, costing $400 per week, walks with a cane & needs a spinal stimulator worth $80,000 to help control the pain. Recently had cortisone injections in both shoulders & may need a shoulder reconstruction. The car had to be modified to suit her best-working limbs & she had to resit her driver's licence. The public health system isn't sufficient for her needs so private insurance is needed.
Her sole income is disability & parenting pensions.
The only reason she & her kids are living where they are is because her mother owns the house and there's no rent to pay.

And that's just one of the cases we helped today.

Great relief. Lung function test = OK. No signs of asbestos-related damage shown by high-definition CT scan.
