When my very religious cousin’s wife died suddenly two years ago, her immediate family were unable to attend due to infirmity & distance (1200 km by road & the Bass Strait ferry - which was out of service due to extreme weather) so the service was live-streamed.

I’d have to agree with you. They do work quite well at what they do.

They sell here because drivers on probationary licences (first three years of independend driving) are NOT permitted to use mobile phones, even when they’re in use solely as a GPS.

Plus less tech-savvy folk buy phones to talk on and don’t know/care about greater functionality.

I had contemplated buying a better, newer & currently supported Navman of a more capable type but realised it offered nothing I couldn’t already utilise with a $97 Lenovo 7-in tablet & the free Waze & Here WeGo apps.

Yesterday in a moment of weakness I bought a stand-alone Navman GPS unit from ALDI. Installed the software from the DVD onto my iMac then commenced the registration process. Nope, no good. Serial number was not recognised as valid. More telling, this particular one is not on the list of current models, meaning Navman stockists other than ALDI don’t stock the item.
A leaflet inside the box showed URLs to redeem a 15% discount from the Navman store and to redeem 2 years of free quarterly map updates. These two URLs went to dead websites, both showing 404.
I have returned it to another ALDI store closer to home for a full refund.
I did use it briefly and frankly the Sygic navigation app on my Lumia 1520 and the Here WeGo apps on my iPhone, iPad & Android tablet are far superior, more settings, different voices available and a speed detector that can work in increments of 1 kph rather than the Navman’s pathetic 5 kph increment.
Hell, even Google or Apple Maps are better to use except for the lack of speed detectors.

I keep an AeroPress in the car for trips or when visiting non-coffee folk such as my sister. Re coffee itself, my current favourite is described thus by the roaster: Original mocha beans, delicious mellow, rounded, smooth, creamy chocolate notes.

My basic LG front-loader has a 10-year warranty.

With time. And care. Doing what I’ve just done is counter-productive, walked into a doorway in the dark & bumped the elbow.

For all the improvement today to my arm injury, I still can’t get it into a comfortable enough position for sleeping.

Waiting for a bunch of painkillers to take effect.
