At a regional Men’s Shed gathering two months ago I participated in a power tool raffle, winning the last prize of the day, a mains-powered submersible pump. Not having any use for it either at home or in our Shed, I donated it to a Rotary tool-collecting program that’s constructing & equipping community tool sheds for bushfire-affected areas. It was gratefully recieved, along with some other surplus power tools which were only taking up space, having been replaced with battery-powered items.

Today, just ten minutes up the road, there was another gathering of the same group. Same process, power tool raffle. I won another item, a choice between a chainsaw sharpener or a hammer drill. I decided the bushfire community shed program could use a chainsaw sharpener, so that was my choice.

There had been several speakers on the day, the last one was the co-ordinator of the Rotary project. I asked a question: “Could you use a chainsaw sharpener? I just happen to have one here.”

Again gratefully received, plus it gets the name of our little group out into the wider community of Men’s Sheds.

Bought some new jeans today, of course in order to fit over my fat arse I have to buy extra-long ones. I need them fairly urgently tomorrow so there’s no time to have them professionally shortened.
So I folded up 12.5 cm of cuff on the inside and stuck it down with duct tape.
Which will last until the first wash…

Someone has recently designed a 3D-printable case to hold an Apple AirTag onto a Siri remote.

His parents bought the very last Chevrolet sold to a civilian in 1940. There were none available again until the end of WW2.

Going through some of Mum’s old photos I found one from 1955, it was of my oldest cousin’s 15th birthday. Which means he’s now 81.

At least with Big Sur more of the actual update happens in the background, so after the required restart there’s less downtime to finish the installation.

Didn’t look so pretty with a smeared nose.
