The only time there's no salvage options is if the product has burned to a crisp.

It was supposed to be a pot-roasted portion of young goat leg. But I left it in the slow cooker on the high setting for too long with too much water.

But I salvaged it beautifully. I've been assembling a pot-luck soup, thus far it's been a can of potato & leek soup, a UHT pouch of minestrone & another of garden vegetable soup. It was lacking something, taste-wise.

The water the goat had overcooked it had cooled & gone to jelly. I scooped the small amount of fat off the surface and added the jellied stock to the soup, along with some finely chopped goat meat and a touch of vegetable stock powder.

It's a very thick & tasty soup now and the remaining meat will be served up in a lightly-cheesed-up peppery white sauce with a dollop of mustard.

Thanks! I don't like having to sort thru alphabetical listings more than once. That particular setting is now unchecked.

Bulltish! The MBP which works fine is non-retina.

Odd that the older 2011 MBP has none of those problems on Sierra.

Sick of the inconsistent performance of the MBA under Sierra. Apps stop working, stall & lock out any salvage method beyond a forced restart. The Applications folder is weirdly organised: first it has folders in alphabetical order then apps in alphabetical order. Telling it to sort on name or none has no effect. So I'm reinstalling the OS over wifi.

I made a simple Automator app to force-quite all open apps with four exceptions. But it's been necessary to run the app twice to get the quit routine accepted.
Simple solution: open the app in Automator & add a duplicate of the "quit all apps" action to the existing action.
Works properly now.

Just joined the waiting list for Stash app. Seems like an interesting replacement for Pocket or Instapaper. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/stash-intelligent-bookmarking/id1139841796
