Funny you should mention a late PPC Mac. Earlier today, my Nov 2005 dual-core 2.3 GHz G5 PowerMac had 6.5 GB of RAM but was only addressing 6 GB of it. A bit of fiddling with extra RAM & jiggling of internal switches and, well, I'll let the picture tell the story.
