Mum’s car, being 21 years old, lacks a bit in the entertainment department. It has an AM/FM radio & cassette unit. In the glovebox there’s a tape-shaped audio in device that plugs into the headphone port of a portable audio device. The signal gets converted into a magnetic form aimed at the cassette deck’s playing head.
I can use the iPod Touch or the old MiniDisc player/recorder as the music source.
I had a spare mobile phone mounting bracket so that’s been fitted and the iPhone hooks up to a visor-mounted Bluetooth hands-free unit.
I put the iPhone into Do Not Disturb while driving enabled and use the Bluetooth device to do the enabling. That’s quite satisfactory.

That feels better. I haz had food. Now a cup of some herbal infusion to aid sleep.

Semantics,i suppose. Car insurance companies tend to deduct any policy excesses from any payout, but not the mob I’m insured with. They contacted me today and I paid out the applicable excess.

I got into the habit of checking every two weeks. Or after a tyre fitter had worked on the car.

Cheap but effective Bluetooth handsfree purchased to use in Mum’s car & any future vehicle I buy. $20 discount for buying while on a special sale.

Arnica cream purchased. It was recommended to me 25 years ago as being effective against bruising. My lady friend used it on her horses and swore by the treatment!

My youngest brother has mo idea of vehicle maintenance. He was using Mum’s car before I picked it up. I checked the tyre pressure and all were between 22 & 23 psi, that’s less than the manufacturer’s recommendation. They now have 33 psi and it rides better

Where has my hunger gone? Yesterday I had a chicken curry with rice for lunch & most of a bag of corn chips for dinner. No breakfast or lunch today, and it’s almost 5pm. Just not hungry & haven’t had much to drink today, either. Had plenty of cool drinks yesterday, it was very hot & humid.

Spoke to the car insurance company: excellent service considering it’s just 48.5 hours since the collision. I’ve paid the excess that’s built into all such insurance policies these days.
The car has had all personal stuff removed & it will be taken to an assessment centre: most likely to be a total loss. i shall hear from them forthwith, via email & phone.

Back from the doctor: he says I have bruised ribs and after my response to his poking & prodding, sent me off for some x-ray imaging. He thinks I have have one or two cracked ribs. X-ray have been done, as it’s FridayI won’t have a result until Monday.
