Spoke to the car insurance company: excellent service considering it’s just 48.5 hours since the collision. I’ve paid the excess that’s built into all such insurance policies these days.
The car has had all personal stuff removed & it will be taken to an assessment centre: most likely to be a total loss. i shall hear from them forthwith, via email & phone.
Back from the doctor: he says I have bruised ribs and after my response to his poking & prodding, sent me off for some x-ray imaging. He thinks I have have one or two cracked ribs. X-ray have been done, as it’s FridayI won’t have a result until Monday.
@matigo Damn right it is. I regret taking the route I did on Wednesday afternoon. Normally for that trip I bypass that busy section accessing the freeway & connect with it 8 km further down the road. So now I have no car and am sporting an iPhone-sized bruise on my chest from the seatbelt.

@matigo Shudder. I had fish and chips once here, from a real local place (a friend’s treat), and it was just a sponge for old oil.
I have a seatbelt-inflicted bruise on my chest about the same size as an iPhone SE. Colours are presently red & blue. In time, black & a sickly yellow will appear.
I have, in the loungeroom, a power board with 4 x 240 volt switched AC outlets. It also ha a pair of USB charging ports, rated for a total of 4.2 Amps. If both ports are used, the current reduces to compensate. So I’m using that to charge the solar, etc powerbank.
The solar, etc powerbank has a pair of 2.1 A USB charging outlets and a micro USB port for faster charging. It comes partially charged, at around 60% capacity. There’s also a diffused LED light alleged to last up to 60 hours on a full battery charge.
Today I collected a powerbank from a shop. As local stock was limited I bought online, electing to collect it from the local store to save postage costs. It’s a 15,000 mAh battery in a splashproof case. It also has a solar panel for trickle-charging.
One of the guys in the Men’s Shed group picked me up this morning and had planned to take me to the railway station so I could take a country train to the town 6 stations away where Mum lives. However, the maintenance man at the venue that hosts the Shed lives one town further down the line so I cadged a lift with him.
I’m home again, this time with Mum’s car, a 21 year old Hyundai Lantra Sportswagon.
Tomorrow I remove all my gear from the wreck then head off to a doctor’s appointment.
