@matigo Runs from 240 volts AC. That might restrict their use of it.
I bought a single-element induction hob today at Aldi. My cast iron & enamelled steel pots & pans work with it nicely as does a pair of steel wok pans. I did buy two smaller 16 & 20 cm pots to suit it, the latter can use the stainless steel steamer (perforated bottom) pans for a bit more versatility.
Mighty impressed with its performance, especially as the price was so low.
I mentioned it to a few caravan owners, I reckon one would be very useful in a van.
Travelled 1457 km since Thursday last week. Averaged 48 mpg (Imperial, not US). That's impressive, I think, the car is 10 years old.
@jpa Cats, on the other hand, will do their business come rain or shine, then come back inside & smooch around you. A tad disconcerting with wet fur.

@matigo No, I mostly use it closed in a Twelvesouth BookArc holder, the connector gets caught on the top of the desk, moving other cables nearby bumps it and it drops out. A power cable coming straight out, like the other cables (Thunderbolt, FW800 & both USB 2) would work much better. Fortunately both MBPs use Magsafe 1 connections & are 85 watts, easy swap.
Tired of the Magsafe 1 connector on this MBP getting dislodged because it's the "L-type" connection. Next time I go to Mum's place I'll swap the power supply with the 2008 pre-Unibody MBP that lives there: it uses the superior "T-type" connection. Both supplies are rated at 85 watts.
It used to be, not long ago, something of a trial to deposit cash or cheques an an ATM. First extract the deposit envelope, fill out the details on the integrated deposit slip & insert it along with any cheques or notes, then, while the queue that's building behind you gets frustrated at your slowness, insert the filled envelope into the belly of the beast.
Now, though, you insert cash notes, cheques or a combination of the two up to 40 items directly into the machine, which scans each item & adds up the totals.
If there were any cheques in the deposit, you can opt to have scanned images of them printed on the back of the issued receipt.
Too easy.
@matigo It's possible, in less than two weeks (there's a 2-week trial version on the website, full version on the MAS) it brought the battery on the MBA up from 87% to 91%.
