Almost feel ready to get out of bed: at 1:43 pm. Had more shivering fits overnight, much the same as happened a few months ago. Nothing amiss, according to the doctor then, I feel the same way now. Lethargic, mostly.

My first Mac User Group Committee meeting tonight. Just checked the agenda: a 6 page PDF. Granted, the final two are the outgoing Treasurer's report. I've been told these meetings can go for three hours.

thanks!

It's not generally understood that we have two major conservative political parties here. The one that's called Liberal is anything but liberal in reality.

Tweedledum & Tweedle-just-as-fucking-dum.

I'm certainly enjoying the iPhone SE experience. I was asked on Sunday at a combined PC/Mac user group meeting how I managed a little phone with my fat fingers.

I responded by holding up both hands and saying my hands and fingers are about the only skinny part of me. Definitely no fatvfingers here.

Labor wanted a true broadband of fibre to the premises, cutting out that last copper link from the node.

With the new mobile data plan & faster Fraudband coming in a few days, my monthly communications costs will drop by some $11 (only $0.99 less than the cost of Apple Music) and the wired internet should be at least twice as "fast" plus I'll have more mobile data.

I win, I believe.

The Federal Government is on a buy-a-vote spree. There's an election coming up on July 2 and they've sped up the roll-out of their idea of a National Broadband Network, Fibre-To-The-Node. The length of telephone cable between my dwelling & that node is used ADSL-style to provide PSTN & Broadband (or as we call it out here, Fraudband) and unlike some is barely 160 metres in length, so I'll be less-affected by signal loss over the non-fibre section.

I'm informed that the changeover date ftom ADSL 2+ to NBN will be this coming Friday and I can expect a few hours without internet as I'm switched from one service to the other. No wirk is needed on the existing copper cable out from the node. All existing ADSL equipment in my home will still be used so there's likely to be little disruption.
For that period of no wired internet I'll still gave a goodly proportion of the 5.5 GB mobile connection which can be shared if needed.

Crazy. Yesterday I visited my carrier/ISP's local shop to discuss changing my mobile data plan. Turns out that this month they have a 3 GB bonus for anyone who upgrades or takes out a new plan. So I upgraded from a plan that gave me 1.5 GB of data per month to one with 2.5 GB & is $5 per month cheaper. I still have 8 days remaining of the old contract, so they've transferred the old contract period to the new contract data plan.

This means that factoring in the 3 GB bonus, I have 8 days to use 5.5 GB of mobile data before the next 2.5 GB month commences.
