A friend does a thing she calls "Pork'n'Beans." It's green beans wrapped in thinly sliced ham which is then simmered until the beans are tender.

Off to appraise the eye doctor/surgeon of my change in health insurance funds. Then make an appointment for the annual eye test, it's already been 15 months since my second round of cataract surgery.
this practitioner is three suburbs away, in a town where I can get superb flat bread that just isn't baked the same way in any nearby area.

Sloppy peas dish worked well, although I used a whole smoked hock instead of a ham bone. Might rename it "Porky Peas."

Weird behaviour from Opera Beta, it froze the Mac. I could select Force Quit but no apps would quit. I keep Activity Monitor in the dock but the dock was unresponsive. Forced shutdown, booted from Recovery drive & repaired disk.
Still misbehaving after reboot, entire desktop window moved 1 cm to the right. Forced shutdown again. This time I booted from a Yosemite clone on an ext SSD over Thunderbolt. DiskWarrior said the directory needed a rebuild, so I did that. Rebooted normally & now all is OK.

An associate. We worked together. Anyone meeting the slimeball for the first time could see the cash-register view in his eyes. He just looked shifty.

Just when I was buying my home & needed all the spare funds available a former workmate phoned to say he'd "accidentally" acquired a check from my checkbook several months earlier while we were sitting in my work vehicle having lunch. He claimed that it looked like a piece of paper that he grabbed to make a note of a phone called he recieved at the time.
He had used the check to buy a new Ericsson mobile phone for $600.
"How can you do that and not realise it's not a check of your own?” I thought at the time.
We arranged to meet that afternoon and he said he'd have the cash ready.
Little bastard was late to the appointment and was (obviously) $5 short of the required amount. I made no issue about or, just glad to have the bulk of the funding returned.
In trying to work out why he should have confessed to me of his sin, I can only conclude he was under spousal pressure to come clean. She was a more morally scrupulous person than he.

All the unidentified phone numbers you block are calls from your future self trying to warn you about your terrible choices…

My friend Les, from Yorkshire, says he much prefers the Australian winters to those back in the UK. Here, he says, there's snow but you have to make an effort , go for a drive to encounter it, rather than having to co-exist with it for three months of the year.

Preparing what my Yorkshireman friend Les calls "sloppy peas." It's reconstituted dried peas (not the split variety but proper garden peas) cooked up with a hambone. In the absence of the latter, I'm substituting a smoked pork hock. The peas are mostly reconstituted but need more cooking.
