Using the drain & spin feature on the washing machine to partially wring out the clothes, sheets, towels, etc that I used to mop up the spillage from the massive leak that's evident when I try actually washing something.
Calling a service wallah tomorrow. There's a couple of excellent local blokes nearby.
Replacement Kindle Paperwhite purchased, this time I bought a white one. The old is the Paperwhite 2 with a resolution of 212ppi while the new one, a Paperwhite 3 has 300ppi instead. It also has over 3 GB of usable storage space.
In the market for a replacement Kindle Paperwhite - dropped mine facedown on concrete today, now there are bright white stars on the screen, visible & distracting at night. They don’t disappear with the backlighting off, either.
No need to buy the 3G model, wi-fi is fine.
Need to work out if I want black or white body colour.
@matigo @streakmachine, in certain circles is infamous for stating, on occasion, “Inflatable cheese sandwich.”

Oh, wait, there's a Bluetooth sharing feature in System Preferences-> Sharing that needs to be checked. Now files are accepted.
WTF, Apple? Today, on a 2015 21.5-inch iMac running High Sierra, I was able to share photos from a Windows Phone over Bluetooth, yet at home, the same phone can't send files to either my 2017 iMac or 2014 MacBook Air (both also with High Sierra).
I get an error message that the Bluetooth file sharing feature is not supported.
#Bonkers.
"Another thing: if you have a frequently-used app or two, you can drag those to the toolbar at the top of a Finder window. They will then be available from any open Finder window. At least, it used to be that way. It my be necessary to hold down the option key while dragging now, I can’t quite recall."
Turns out it's the Command key, either the left or the right one will do, the only difference is convenience. Hold down the command key and drag the desired app to the desired location on the Finder toolbar.

@hazardwarning Go to System Preferences-> Accessibility-> Display & check the box beside Increase contrast. When you do so, Reduce Transparency is also selected by default. Here's two screenshots: the first show Safari unmodified, the second shows the difference. The changes are made to the toolbar & sidebar in Finder windows as well.

@hazardwarning I recommend macmost.com as an excellent resource for short Mac video tutorials. Here’s one on customizing toolbars. https://macmost.com/customize-the-toolbar-in-the-finder-and-apps.html

On the subject of macmost, the website publishes a printable PDF of the most common keyboard shortcuts.
