@matigo I’ve known it was dodgy for quite a while now. It’s going to have most of its non-standard apps deleted and just be a music source in the car, connected via a Lightning cable to the audio system’s USB port. That’s gonna keep it charged up.
I disconnected the old 6th gen iPod Touch from its charger 14 hours ago. Since then it’s just been on standby with wi-fi and Bluetooth on. For about 20 minutes I used it with social media. The battery has just announced it’s down to 20% capacity.
Not real good at all.
@matigo Greater image/video compression without loss of quality. Exported images are converted to jpeg.
@matigo The camera can be set to use HEIC format, too. Not possible with my iPad or iPhone, they’re too old.
6th gen iPod Touch specs: 1.13 GHz dual-core A8 processor & 1 GB RAM.7th gen iPod Touch specs: 1.6 GHz dual-core A10Fusion processor & 2 GB RAM.
Consequently, the Geekbench results for the newer device are just a shade under double the numbers for the previous model.
I’ve collected the new iPod Touch, setting it up now. Some settings transferred OK from the iPhone held in close proximity (and from reading an image on the iPod’s screen with the iPhone’s camera), others had to be done manually as the activation server was unreachable. Downloaded & installed iOS 12.3.1 update, now restoring from an iClod (sic) backup of the older iPod Touch.
The John Smith’s beer retails for anywhere between $4 & $5.50 per can here, except at ALDI, where it’s $10 for a 4-pack. Good value.
Decided at 2:30 am that I needed a beer. I have a few 500 ml cans of John Smith’s Extra Smooth Bitter chilling in the fridge, bought because they’re especially cheap in ALDI this week. These cans have a widget in them meaning the brew has to be decanted into a drinking vessel. Being 500 ml cans, it needs to be a sizeable vessel.
I’d also bought a few cans of SapporoPremium at ALDI a few months back & taken the tops off with the can-opoener jigger on my trusty Swiss Army knife. This makes them into nice big drinking buckets of 650 ml capacity, ideal for the job.
The Sapporo itself is an inoffensive & boring tasting brew of 5% ABV, by the way. Drinkable but not exciting.
The John Smith's Bitter is just that, a very bitter medium strength (3.6% ABV) brew with heaps of malty flavours & oddly smooth, considering the maltiness & buitterness.
Just as the Sapporo is a great refresher in summer, the John Smith’s strikes me as well suited to cooler weather. I like it a lot.
@matigo Kevlar vests would reduce injuries from shooting incidents, they are USELESS against slow-moving sharp oblects like knives or spikes.
