@whoisashygirl Forecast.io (aka darksky.net) says Wednesday & Friday will be very uncomfortable indeed. Ill be in the local libray, most likely.
The trouble with having so many weather apps on my phone is that I don’t know what Wednesday’s expected top temperature is likely to be. One app says 34°C, another suggests 37°, yet another claims 40°. And Friday will be hotter again.
I can cope with 34°, 37 & 40 can go fuck themselves.
@variablepulserate This memory foam pillow is excellent. Best sleep I've had in months.
Sleep eludes me, shoulder pain making life difficult. Waining for painkillers to take effect.
ALDI special but that started yesterday included memory foam pillows. By the time I made it to the local store today, they'd completely sold out. Not so at the store two suburbs away, though. Got on for my own use (might help the shoulder) and another as an Xmas gift for my mother.
@matigo Massage in the correct area is usually effective as the pain felt is reflected pain. There's a spot at the front of the shoulder midway inline from the collarbone to the armpit where there's a cluster of tendons just below the skin. My shower-head has a massage setting, I've just used that to massage the tendon area, seems to have helped a bit.
I'm about to tackle that massage job, using some diclofenac NSAID gel.
Well, this is right inconvenient. In 1989 and later in similar circumstances in 1996, I injured then re-injured my left shoulder in a couple of vehicle rollovers. Every so often it comes back to haunt me, as it has for the last few days. There’s a pinched nerve involved & it’s limiting strength & movement of the joint.
Faced with what I considered to be an excessively high cost for comprehensive car insurance this year (around $110 more than for the previous year without any more claims to justify the extra cost) I hunted for cheaper options. I went back to the one associated with the Automobile Club which I've been a member of since 1997. That length of membership qualified me for a discount of $57 & because I also have had home contents insurance with them since 1999, I also get another discount of $64 off the car insurance quote. It's due to take effect today (it's 20 minutes into the day right now) and they've allowed 21 days to pay. I paid yesterday in any case. So this year my car insurance is $10 more than for the previous year.
Which reminds me of the title of one of the old classic BBC radio programs of the 1950s & 60s, The Goon Show. One particular episode was "Insurance: The White Man's Burden."
I've just been comparing the iPad Air 3 with the iPad Mini 5th gen (1st & 2nd prizes in the just run AUSOM annual raffle) and the differences are minimal, restricted to physical size & the Air having a Smart connector for attaching a keyboard.
As for screen resolution, the Mini's effective resolution (due to a smaller screen) is 326 ppi vs the Air at 264 ppi. Internally, other than a larger battery (both offer the same battery life in theory) they are identical in specification.
Both are available in 64 GB & 256 GB configurations. Both have the A12 Bionic processor and M12 co-processor with 3 GB of RAM & 6-core processors.
So thie iPad Mini I won a few days ago in a raffle is a shrunken version of the iPad Air 3.
