In the steps of the ancestors.
In 1924, a young school teacher arrived at her first posting by boat as the roads in the area were impassable. She discovered there was no school building. So she organised classes at the local hall, furniture and kicked along the Education Department into providing a school building within 6 months of her arrival. All at the age of 19.
In about 10 hours I shall be having lunch in that same town. Having known that person for 31 years I can well believe tales of her exploits in getting results.
I am so proud of my grandmother.
@matigo My latest purchase has had some 12,000 extra words added since its original publication.
According to my Kindle, I now have 1000 books in my library. There's more than that, several years ago I downloaded the content of another Kindle account before changing my username.
Weird Kindle Paperwhite behaviour. I go thru the process of removing a book downloaded to it, all it offeres is the delete it. From everywhere. Not what I desire. But if I restart the thing, normal service is resumed.

@kdfrawg Time to convert it over to an all-electric drive? Don't need a transmission for that.

Got another batch of rich, meaty soup on the go. I've cooked up some more beef cheeks: one was cut in half to better fit in the crock pot, ergo those parts cooked quicker. I used the same liquid as last time, equal portions of tomato-based pasta sauce and water.
The meat is virtually fat-free so very little fat-skimming will be needed when the stock is chilled.
The meat itself is falling apart when touched (when it's hot) and it seens to toughen up when it cools. That's due to the gelatinous nature of the sinew in the meat. It's gelatinous when heated & chewy when cooled but a quick blast in a microwave soon softens it up. Intense beef flavour throughout the mass of meat and in the stock as well.
