@jextxadore I bought a Logitech M558 mouse in October last year. Logi claim it'll go for at least a year on a pair of alkaline cells. It's not used daily, maybe five hours a week, so far the power level is around 90%.

Sciatica has cleared up for now, still with lingering lower back pain, though. Time to do some laundry. Just about need a pestle & mortar to grind down the washing detergent. That's what you get when you buy cheap concentrate powder from grocery clearance centres: slightly dodgy products.
Just got an e-mail from a friend warning of a clever "new" credit card scam. So I fed the details into snopes.com and it turns out that while it is a genuine scam, it dates back to 2008 & can hardly be called new. http://www.snopes.com/fraud/sales/express.asp
Had toast & a cup of tea for breakfast hours ago. Shit, shower, shampoo & shave done. Back in bed waiting for the lower back pain to ease off. Which isn't happening. At all. Sciatica being in full-on mode is also curtailing my enjoyment of life.
