An archive or treasure trove…
In cleaning up our late mother’s house my two sisters discovered a cache of letters Dad had written home to friends & family between 1941 & 1946 while serving as a signaller for an artillery regiment in Palestine, New Guinea, Indonesia & Borneo. His wit was of the rather dry variety & locally he was renowned for his quirky humorous writing style.
I have yet to read any of these letters but I’ve been told that they are quite funny in places. I’m rather looking forward to reading them - provided I can decipher his handwriting.
@variablepulserate Nissan Elgrand. In the United Kingdom, most Elgrands are imported for resale through specialist Japanese car import agents or dealerships. There is also a growing market in self-importing Elgrands by either purchasing directly through Japanese car auctions or online dealers.
Picked up a Kindle Paperwhite 11 to replace my Paperwhite 10 that was slow to respond to input and losing battery performance.
Found a 30% discount on the new price on an Amazon Prime Day deal.
Surprisingly, a big office supples chain has replicated the same price structure for the Kindle models it sells.
Satisfying my Vimto squash cravings. I finished one bottle a few minutes ago, there’s enough in another bottle for a few mixed drinks. I found an Amazon seller with local stock: their minimum order is three bottles, each of one litre capacity. They’re reasonably priced so I placed an order for a pack of three bottles. Delivery expected by 8pm Sunday. Right now it’s just after 1am on Saturday.
@variablepulserate Have a look at Atomic Shrimp’s YouTube channel under the “Weird Stuff In A Can” playlist. Various Fray bentos pies & puddings get a mention.

@variablepulserate You can’t use a can opener thar takes the entire top & rim off it, I tried. I had to fish out my Swiss Army knife with its excellent can opener. An opener that leaves the rim intact is fine, the only sharp edges are on the lid itself & there’s no point keeping that part.
@variablepulserate A bonus is you wind up with a handy metal dish that’s really useful in a workshop for bits & pieces. Or useful while camping.
