@matigo It was more than alright. Extra crumbly and sharper-tasting that its usual 20-month aged state.
Sometime in 2016 I bought a block of 20-month-old Cheddar sold by ALDI, it’s best before date was 16th September 2016. How do I know this? Because it was found last week in the back of my fridge in a clean-up.
A cheese-loving friend will be visiting tomorrow. I plan on opening the package then. It’s in pristine condition, having been refrigerated for the last six years.
@variablepulserate The words Flat or Unit are interchangeable here. There are seven free-standing units on a double house block in this 42-year-old development, each of 9500 square feet or 883 square metres. All units have a single vehicle lock-up garage.
Last night at a meeting with my M1 MacBook Air sharing the iPhone’s 5G data over wifi, the battery monitoring app suggested at 19:15 that at the “current” rate of activity, the expected battery life was 20+ hours. It estimated the battery would be dead at 15:40 the following day.
That’s 25 minutes past 20 hours.
Downloading a recording of a funeral service of a family friend who’d lived his life well, passing 5 months shy of 100 years old. In his younger days until his mid 40s he’d been one of the local stalwarts of the cricket, Australian Ruules Football, tennis & badminton teams as well as being a noted runner in his teens. He was also a fine multi-instrumentalist musician, playing in local bands over many decades.
He spent his last 6 days in the local hospital’s palliative care section before passing peacefully.
He was married in 1952 & his wife of virtually the same age still lives on the family farm.
I rather fancy some avocado toast for breakfast tomorrow. They’re reasonably cheap at present, so I’ll get a few in. The latest theory on keeping cut avocados fresh and unoxidised is to store them inna plastic bag with half an onion.
Got my flat mostly cleaned up. In two days a fellow will give me a quote on the cost of removing the old horrible carpet from two bedrooms & the corridor, replacing it with vinyl imitation wooden “planks” very like the ones installed in the living room in 2009. We found some spare “planks” from that job & used them to reconstruct the top of a bedroom dresser unit that used to have a smoked glass top before that broke.
Then my sister & I will visit a hardware, etc store to get a 4-element induction cooktop, rangehood extractor fan/light for the kitchen & blockout curtains for my bedroom.
On Monday a brother fitted a new toilet & cistern to replace the 40+ year-old leaky one. Then sometime soon he’ll construct a 2.5 metre long computer desk to replace the current writing desk/dresser unit along a wall unencumbered by an intruding doorway.
The kitchen work will need to be done by a licensed electrician, when he’s finished that he’ll install a couple of double power points above the desk.
Once the two bedrooms & corridor are re-floored, I’ll consider having the third bedroom done the same way.
One of my brothers visited today & replaced my 40+ year old toilet bowl & cistern with a new one that’s much more efficient with the amount of water it uses per flush, a maximum of 6 litres vs the old one that worked with about 15 litres a time. The old one had a momentary flush mode, it would stop once you released the button while the new has 6 litre full flush or 3 litres half flush. It’s fitted with slow-close hinges on the seat & lid so they no longer close with a loud clunk, instead they just slowly ease down into place.
The pic shows an unpainted area of the walk, this was where the old cistern was located.
I have a sock that's been repaired more than any other garment in the world…
It's the darnedest thing…
