That’s light cloud. It’s just very low light cloud.

I found this on Mastodon, tooted by <@[email protected]>

'Dear kids in Washington State: you can make an appointment with your doctor, or walk into a clinic or ER, and get vaccinated. You don't need permission from your parents. You don't have to wait until you are 18. If the health care provider gets confused, the magic phrase is "Mature Minor Doctrine", and point out that not wanting to catch measles is sign of sufficient maturity. '

I had prepared a set of Bluetooth speakers to use in the motel room but managed to leave it at home. Didn’t bring any headphones but I could have used the MacBook Pro as a music source.
Then I remembered I keep another, bigger & louder set of Bluetooth speakers in the car anyway!
Problem solved.

Twelve out of 23 living cousins gathered on short notice in the rural city where our grandparents spent their entire 60 years of married life. In the 31 years since their passing, their children & grandchildren have gathered somewhere in this state as closely as possible to the anniversary of their wedding. Never on a schedule, just whenever anyone can be bothered to do a flashmob-style thing.

Two of the 25 cousins have passed on, one in the early 1970s from Hepatitis A and another (same family!) of a drug overdose in 1996.

A great time was had by all, much beer & fine food & wine consumed in the same hotel our grandparents dined at every Friday night.

woot!

So sorry to learn of this, Larry. I’ve just returned from a gathering of cousins from my mother’s side of the family: 23 of 25 are still around and on my father’s side, there’s 10 out of 11 living. Our ages span from late 40s to late 70s.

One brother reckons he’ll pour himself upstairs into his hotel room after the reunion.

My other brother & myself face a walk of normally 900 metres or most likely a stagger of half that distance again.

As jober as a sudge.

I did laugh.

I like to break a road trip with a cup of tea or coffee but until earlier today my only water-boiling options involved use of a naked flame (methylated spirits burner) - contraindicated in a hot Australian summer with severe fire restrictions in most areas.
Today I bought a 12-volt cordless electric kettle. Experience with such devices tells me that while the engine is running, I’d need to allow around 8 minutes to boil enough water for a proper brew.
I keep a supply of tea bags & coffee pods on board: the latter are a measured dose of coffee in a sealed package idea for use in the AeroPress which I also keep in the car.
It’ll be seeing some use on the weekend, to get to the family reunion is a mere 3·5 hour drive & naturally a similar time to get home the follwing day.
