Mum at the age of 90 will be going into permanent aged care in January. The costs of doing so mean her 15-year-old house will have to be sold. We need to get rid of her 24 year-old car as well. It’s worth nothing. The decluttering will be a nightmare: she’s a retired schoolteacher & there’s hundreds of video & audio tapes plus DVDs & books to go somewhere, too.
@streakmachine Well here’s one to knock your socks off, courtesy of Docrock on the BTN Mac Show today. It’s about the M1 Mac Mini “only” having two Thunderbold 3 ports, percieved by just about every other reviewer to be less cabable than the Intel model’s four Thunderbolt 3 ports.
What isn’t generally understood is the 4-port Mini has two Thunderbolt controllers, each driving two ports.
It’s the same & yet different with the M1: Two thunderbolt controllers but each controller has just one port. I found one reviewer who had toon down the M1 Mac mini and found two Intel JHL8040R Thunderbolt controllers in it.
At this stage I can’t confirm how many controllers are in the MacBooks.
Started watching a YouTube channel I hadn’t previously seen about the M1 MacBook Pro. I soon turned disconnected from that rubbish. He seemed to know his subject until being surprised when it turned on when he opened the lid.
A good thing I have short hair these days, else I be tearing chunks out in sheer frustration.
Carbon Copy Cloner (beta) can now make bootable backups of a Big Sur startup disk (on Intel-based Macs; see below about the new M1 Macs). In macOS 11.0.1, Apple addressed some of the problems with its APFS replication utility that rendered clones of the System volume non-bootable. If you have an existing backup task that's configured for a Data Volume backup, simply click on the Source selector and choose "Choose a different source," then select your Big Sur startup disk as the source to the task.
Bootable clones on M1 Macs are disabled for now because Apple's APFS replication utility does not currently support the special format of the startup disk's Data volume. CCC will automatically proceed with a Data Volume backup when backing up an APFS Volume Group on Big Sur. When Apple fixes this, we'll post an update to CCC that restores support for making bootable backups on these new Macs.
I like my coffee like I like my women: strong & highly valued in the workplace.
Does Apple really log every app you run? A technical look:
@sumudu You need one of these: https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B077P2FB6S/ref=ppxyodtbasintitleo00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Mine was delivered today. You can even invert the cup & nothing leaks out, the lower portion is stainless steel vacuum flask technology.
