I'm unlikely to get into difficulties re regional coding because I have two MacBook Pros, a G4 PowerBook, G4 PowerMac, G4 eMac & a G5 PowerMac that all have DVD drives plus there's the Sony & Apple external USB burners & the big FireWire/USB external 5.25-in enclosure that has a G5 PowerMac's SuperDrive installed. And the G4 PowerMac has a Combo drive in its second optical drive bay.
I haz lotz of options!

@kdfrawg In amongst my collection of stuff is a USB 2.0 Sony tray-loading DL DVD burner that's about the same size as the Apple device. The Sony also requires a 5 volt external power source but if you have a spare USB port, that will suffice.
Reading up on the internet, it's possible that replacing the Mac's internal drive with another brand can help re regional coding. The built-in Apple ones don't accept firmware updates, apparently.
It's a dark art.

I think MacTheRipper is supposed to work in conjunction with VLC's regional decoders to make a "work-anywhere" rip.

They hide in the swamps & tundra………

Being a uni-lingualist, I rarely encounter other-regional DVDs, US content is no good as we are civilised here & use the PAL protocol for TV, unlike the US which uses NTSC, which probably doesn't mean Never Twice Same Color, however much I'd like that meaning to apply. When I encounter such a DVD I use VLC player to view it.

Gracenotes database was ever-so-slighty out of date re the CD I've just imported into iTunes: the artist name was recognised as Siroco, instead of Sirocco. I have updated Gracenotes & am now uploading the album to Apple Music.

The Apple USB SuperDrive is taking longer that I remember to import that CD. In my collection of Mac hardware there's a dual-interface USB 2.0 & FireWire 400 box containing a 16X SuperDrive taken from a dead G5 PowerMac. That would have imported the music much quicker. I recall taking 6 minutes using a 12-in G3 iBook and a FE 400 external CD burner to import a CD several years ago.

Something slipped through the quality control re iTunes. One album of instrumental music should have had 9 tracks on it, the longest being over 16 minutes long. But there were only 7 tracks and that supposedly long one only went for 4 seconds.
I checked all my iPods, etc and could only find the missing stuff on the original CD and a MiniDisc dubbed from that CD. It was even wrong on the iPod Classic. So now I'm re-importing the CD into iTunes.

Had bad reflux & been vomiting off & on all night. Unable to keep food down until now. Looks like the breakfast fry-up is staying down.

That is what FruitJuice app encourages. Run it down to 20% and also used it off the charger for 20% of the runtime.
