Driving home in filthy wet weather, I learned the rear window wiper has an intermittent mode that’s initially hidden. When switched on, the wiper makes three sweeps, pauses for two seconds then goes into intermittent mode, sweeping once every five seconds.

The new (to me, anyway) car has a switchblade-style ignition key. So I thought I’d try running the car with the key partly folded to keep the other keys away from my leg. That works, but not for startup: for that operation the key must be fully extended.
