That was weird. Suddenly a notification from Sophos Home app popped up on the MBA, saying the scan was completed in 23 minutes & found nothing nasty.
But I never instigated any scan, nor ran one to any schedule. Plus, 23 minutes is awfully quick for a full scan. And the menubar icon for the app was white on black rather than black on white. I was unable to open the Sophos Home Dashboard status window from the app.
Fucken Sophos has changed the process WITHOUT TELLING ANY USERS!
The Home dashboard window is no longer a feature, so you can set up file/folder/volume exclusions there. Such things have to be done from the website.
Automatic fast scans are triggered by updating the AV definitions.
Full scans can be instigated from the website or from the menubar icon.
I don't mind the changes, NOW THAT I UNDERSTAND THEM but the sheer bloody-minded arrogance of making such changes WITHOUT notifying users is undermining my confidence in the app & its developers.
