One of my cousins & her husband, both retired teachers were carers for her mother until her death 8 days ago. They’ve left on a long-planned getaway, having bought a big caravan & 4WD dual-cab pickup to tow it.
Very plush van it is, too, and it has to be, cos it’s their home for the next two years.

Looking forward to real food again. Had no breakfast yesterday, didn’t eat until the refreshments in a hall after the funeral. Dinner was a wee can of tuna & 6 crackers plus a 200 gram wedge of brie and a 25 gram bag of pork rinds & numerous teas & coffees.
Breakfast today was two wee tuna cans & 12 crackers plus a huge cup of tea. Coffee at cousins’ place before heading off.
Refuelled is car & bought a small meat pie & iced coffee.
Another iced coffee 90 minutes later to wash down some tablets & now back home with a cup of tea.

Home again, 5 hours after leaving the funeral town. The idiots were out in force on the roads again.

How very odd. I can use Bluetooth to transfer photos from the Lumia 1520 to the Men’s Shed iMac but not to my new MacBook Pro.
Fortunately Dropbox works.

Essential travelling coffee kit: AeroPress with Porlex Mini hand-cranked ceramic conical burr grinder.

I was bemoaning the tiny size of the motel’s tea/coffee cups (an almost-full AeroPress chamber overfills the cup) when I remembered there was a 16-oz travel cup in the boot off the car. Very convenient, the motel’s teapot is about 14-oz.

I normally have trouble sleeping in strange beds. But this cheap motel has a really good bed, I’ve already had four hours of good sleep (I had to get up for a toilet visit) and it’s not yet 3 am.

In my experience they’re normally better than this one.

motel wi-fi
Which is why it’s nice to have over 70 GB available on a 12-month phone plan (Lumia 1520).

lumia 1520 4g

There’s wifi here but it’s abysmally slow, I’m better off sharing from the Lumia 1520, that has some 74 GB remaining on the 80 GB annual plan. There’s 8 months to run, I have to find some way of using all that data.

It’s by no means a new motel but it’s well featured and the mattress is firm, comfortable & supportive. There could be more power outlets for my gadgets to charge but I’m coping OK.
