Cheap Mesh router setup has fixed my patchy home wifi. The Apple TV at the opposite end of my home to the broadband router & Apple AirPort Extreme router kept losing signal, to the extent it actually connected to the 2.4 GHz network ar a faster rate than when using the 5 GHz network.
A temporary solution was to use a power line Ethernet multiplexer setup to give the Apple TV a reliable internet via Ethernet. This worked, after a fashion, but the Speedtest app on the Apple TV indicated the connection at 9.72 Mbps, way down on the 90+ Mbps of the 5 GHz wifi network.
The Power line multiplexers were each replaced by Mesh router units which I’ve set to talk to each other over wifi. The remotest unit connects to the Apple TV via Ethernet, having received the wifi being transmitted from the primary Mesh unit connected via wifi tothe broadband router.
Cheap solution, the Mesh router pair cost AU$68, cheaper than a fast power line Etherneet multiplexer approach. Also cheaper & more effective than wifi range extenders.
