I have just repeated the earlier CD rip job done earlier with a USB Superdrive connected to a 2017 13-in MacBook Pro (Escape key) running Monterey. The difference is I used the 2005 12-in G4 PowerBook running Leopard with identical import settings to the earlier process. As I suspected, the G4 did the job faster.
