Had another tasty serve of iron-boosting rump steak with lunch today. This time I cooked it with an electric sandwich press. Tonight's will be done in the top of the fan-forced electric oven: it has a separate grill at the top.
An enormously irritating thing the Men's Shed iMac likes to do is, for no discernible reason, drop Bluetooth connection to its Magic Mouse then regain it. I've had enough. As the person responsible for the computer I'm going to get a $15 Logitech M100 wired mouse as a replacement. The USB ports on the aluminium keyboard aren't used, so it's not going to tie up one of the four USB 3.0 ports.
@larand The last person who owned this place planted three orange trees. Two have survived, still quite small although they have plenty of fruit on them.

@kdfrawg There's a soil & garden supply company not far away that still runs 6 1950s & 1960s Chev tipper trucks in amongst their more modern gear. The reason is simple: modern small trucks are forward control/cabover jobs and can be too tall for some demolition sites. The Chevs are at least 2 feet lower in height and are quite popular with such site managers. Often they'll request the Chevs for that reason.

@kdfrawg A big national rubbish removal company started out rather smaller in these parts 40-something years ago. Their trucks had two messages painted on the sides: "Our business is picking up" and "Satisfaction guaranteed or double your rubbish back."

@kdfrawg The app prompts you to charge it once it gets to 20% capacity. It also calculates the minimum time you should run the Mac with the power detached. It "likes" the average daily usage over 7 & 30 days to be at least 20% of the time.

Having used FruitJuice app on my MacBook Air for several months now, its reported battery capacity has gone from 87% to, on occasion 99%. Currently showing as 95% of original capacity. I have done 45 full charge cycles in those months.
@jws They could at least have removed the option from System Preferences, since it doesn't work unless the Terminal routine is used.
Bad Apple.
Key Repeat is disabled in recent Mac OS versions. The option to adjust it is still in System Preferences but it does nothing. Zip. Fuck all.
Off to Mr Google for help.
Open Terminal. Enter defaults write NSGlobalDomain ApplePressAndHoldEnabled -bool false and press return. DO NOT enter your password.
@skematica Once upon a time a Mac app called iChat AV would let one user control another's computer over the magic interwebs. As well as allowing for hosting video chat to up to 9 others. It got dumped in favour of FaceTime.
Well, FaceTime and Messages can, under certain circumstances, be combined to allow the remote use of another's Mac, but only with their permission.
