In September last year a friend & his wife were stuck in Alice Springs in Australia’s Northern Territory, trying with a original iPhone SE & iPad Mini to negotiate COVID conditions online for access into the neighbouring state of Western Australia. Their issue was the fumble-finger faults with using such tiny keyboards. So they went hunting in various computer & electrical stores for a suitable external keyboard, until finding at their very last shop (an office supply place) a new M1 MacBook Air.
This was the answer to their prayers.

There’s an app for that: check out remote Mouse: I sometimes use an iPad or the iPhone as a trackpad or keyboard it the real items need their batteries charged.

Taking ridiculous amounts of anti-inflammatory medication, as previously approved by my GP. He says while a normal dose is two capsules three times daily, I can , if really needed, take a full dozen of the things without ill effect.

Awkward fall yesterday, landed on concrete forecourt at a filling station while stocking up on ice to cool drinks for a fundraising BBQ. Was assisted to my feet by very considerate passers by and went on my way, thinking I’d got off OK. But I’m over 60 now and stresses easily build up. I was unable to contribute at the fundraiser as I couldn’t stand or walk without assistance. My arthritic left knee took most of the impact (I was using a foam & elastic brace on it which helped spread the impact) but there’s a heck of a lot of pain & significant swelling of that knee. And I can’t get a doctor appointment at my usual clinic for at least two days.
I’m massaging a mentholated arthritis cream into the affected area four tines per day & a local pharmacy holds a prescription for effective anti inflammatory capsules - I’ll get another lot issued.

My left knee is a mess of osteoarthritis, constant pain (at levels from mild to debilitating) and tomorrow I get to discuss options with a physiotherapist who has access to 3-week-old X-rays done on that knee. I’ve been more strict in taking the required medication at the right time & that’s made a huge difference to managing the condition. I’ve been wearing an elastic knee brace whenever I leave home & most of the time when I’m not in bed.
I have venous issues which could lead to DVT if I wore the thing while sleeping, so that’s why it’s not worn in bed.
My doctor has suggested that more quadriceps muscle exercising like cycling could be part of my long-term quality of life. ALDI stores in the area are carrying limited stock of an under-desk pedalling machine which may be worth consideration.

Went for a trundle on the buggy the other day, discovered a long thin park with lots of seating picnic areas and a “fitness trail” where there are several bunches of gym-style equipment for the more daring to try out. The park runs through various housing developments & right in the middle is an pair of electric BBQs, a covered picnic area, substantial lawn for R&R, a tall palm tree and a pond with various lookouts around it.

Travelled 9 km on the mobility scooter (aka Trundle Buggy) today. Power level was still above 80% at the end of the run. It averaged 7kph, mostly driven at 8kph except for crossing roads at pedestrian crossings and for the final 300 metres to beat the rain, I selected full power in those instances. This higher setting gets 10 to 11 kph.

More updates today: iOS & iPad OS 15.4 plus Monterey 12.3. Universal Control has arrived, as has Masked Face ID on iPhone 12 & newer (except the just-announced SE 3 which has Touch ID).
