@kdfrawg It all levels out at -40°. That's the only coinciding point on the ℃ & ℉ scales. So weather reports of -40 ℃ are also -40 ℉.

Use the internal for Time Machine? I know it's a bit small for that but it does depend on how much space your boot-up drive has - I like to have 2 to 2.5 time the capacity of the boot drive allocated to Time Machine.

Ah, gotcha. Back in the ADN days one fellow kept a 2008 iMac with a buggered internal HD operational for several years with an external Firewire 800 SSD.
I use a not-dissimilar theory with a Pismo G3 PowerBook that was given to me. An internal fault means it can't recognise and HDs in it. So I use an external Firewire 400 CompactFlash card reader with a 32 GB CF card instead.
This has the added benefit of not only being faster but larger as well. The original HD was 20 GB.

Oops words in YouTube videos. Just saw a car detailer cleaning the inside of a rear window with a magic sponge. He said "you only need one pass, which is great because I'm old and not an extortionist."

What was the job?

Just de-gunked the screen of the MacBook Air with a dampened Magic sponge - one of those white melamine foam ones. A quick swipe over the affected area was all that was needed, then dried it with a microfibre cloth.

Most impressive.

Assorted cheese platter for dinner tonight. Old Amsterdam aged gouda & aged goat cheese (is the cheese or the goat itself aged?), pre-sliced blue brie, President brand La Brique (shallow brick-shaped mould-ripened cheese), local camembert-style, 36-month mature cheddar from Aldi & a stunningly superb King Island blue-vein number. http://www.kingislanddairy.com.au/product_detail/roaring-forties-blue/

Far better to have an awful lot of coffee than to have a lot of awful coffee.

Had to send an email to my car insurer, explaining that I never left. They'd sent me an email saying in effect "sorry you left." The insurance policy on the car I had written off was due for renewal two days ago.
They seemed to have forgotten that I'd taken out another policy on the current car. I even had to add the new policy info to their website, although that had at least picked up that I had a current policy. It just lacked that minor detail. all fixed now.
