Result of Pismo battery test. First, in System Preferences/Energy Saver, I set the HD to never sleep & the display to sleep after 15 minutes of idleness. Then I made a note of the time (0130) and emoved the power supply. I checked it a few times then went to sleep. I awoke at 0745 & checked the battery, it was 19% & the whole thing kept going for at least 40 minutes more.
So that was a battery life of around 6 hours on standby.
Fifteen minutes ago I started the process with another battery, this one at 70% of its original 4800 mAh capability.
Going to charge the newest Pismo battery & set the power usage while on battery so the hHD never sleeps, then I’ll leave the Pismo turned on & see how long it lasts.
First time I tried it, the HD was set to sleep after 15 minutes of idleness, so in 4.5 hours that battery went from 100% charged to 92%, not quite conducive to battery testing.
A particularly nice tea, Yorkshire Gold is quite hard to find in these parts, I now know of three grocery stores that stock it. On the third Tuesday of each month I do a 2-hour presentation to a combined Apple/PC user group in a venue virtually right opposite one of those stores.
But my current supply of the stuff wasnt going to last another 2 weeks until I was down that way. So today on the return from the Mac User Group monthly main meeting I deviated to visit a store which the internet suggested would have Yorkshire Gold.
They did stock it so I bought two packs, along with another Australian-grown tea which I haven’t seen in any store for several years, I’ve had to buy it directly from the growers.
Plus, the lady friend who gave me the two G3 Pismo laptops over the last three years presented me with a very viable battery, a 6000 mAh battery that’s down to 5800 mAh of capacity. Beats the hell out of the other batteries I have: one is showing 3447 mAh from an original total of 4800 & the other is a complete joke. It’s down to 847 mAh from the original 4800. This last battery is only strong enough to boot the Pismo before it goes to sleep from power loss.
Gee, Amazon, that’s generous. One of “Today’s deals” is a $3 reduction in the price of an Android smart watch, from $17 down to $13. It’s a 2G device that can send & receive phone calls and SMS messages, amongst other features.
The “generosity” stems from it being a 2G or Edge network device being sold in a country that has shut down all 2G networks.
@variablepulserate No. Force touch has various limited functions under system preferences/trackpad
But I can do lots more with it because I use BetterTouchTool and can use one, two, three & four finger force touch in different ways & areas of the trackpad.
