Today I learned that in order for a Thunderbolt 3 cable to be able to pass 100 watts of charging power, transfer files at 40 Gbps and transfer via USB 3.1 at 10 Gbps, it’s rare for that cable to exceed 0.5 metres in length. Apple sells one that’s 0.8 m & can perform at the above speeds. Darned thing costs AU$59.
The 2-metre USB-C cable used to charge a Retina MacBook Pro can only sync at USB 2.0 speeds. It can handle 100 watts of power though.
If you ever thought the Android market for phones was fragmented, then that for USB-C is even worse.
