The local library service de-amalgamated from its previous conglomerate with one in another municipality leaving me with a library card that couldn’t be used in the local branch. They had formed a new amalgamation with another regional library service for which I did gave a viable card.
I tried to use it today, the scanner rejected it as “unknown user.” This is because the old card’s number starts with the letter A and the new scanners can’t read the barcode.
So I got a new card isdued then was told the system said there was a duplicate card in the system. Turns out that was the one from the discontinued amalgamation. The lady behind the help desk was able to reset the duplicate card so it worked with the other library. Convoluted but fixed mow.
