Well here’s one to knock your socks off, courtesy of Docrock on the BTN Mac Show today. It’s about the M1 Mac Mini “only” having two Thunderbold 3 ports, percieved by just about every other reviewer to be less cabable than the Intel model’s four Thunderbolt 3 ports.
What isn’t generally understood is the 4-port Mini has two Thunderbolt controllers, each driving two ports.
It’s the same & yet different with the M1: Two thunderbolt controllers but each controller has just one port. I found one reviewer who had toon down the M1 Mac mini and found two Intel JHL8040R Thunderbolt controllers in it.
At this stage I can’t confirm how many controllers are in the MacBooks.
