It's an example of adapting an old shed to more modern farming practices. Observe the cutaway in the edge of the roof above the entry. This allows a tractor-mounted forklift to get the second layer of round haybales in on top of the first layer without coming into contact with the low roof edge.
If you look closer, the upper-left bale has the lifting forks (demounted from the tractor) in place, ready to be used. You can see how little clearance the shed modification really provides.
