My late father was a kind & gentle man, not given to swearing although I did hear him shout "bloody" a few times when the cattle on the farm were being unusually obstreperous. He played cricket, tennis & badminton in the local area-based competitions. One day he didn't turn up for badminton practice so the team captain made enquiries. Dad was still in the nearest hospital getting his right wrist & hand attended to after he broke a few bones in each when he punched the farm's horse.

He must have been exceptionally angry to take such action. We never heard any explanation of why he felt the need to castigate the beast in such a manner.
