Been labelling my many & various micro USB cables. Six proved to be charge-only cables. Two would charge & sync Android tablets. One would charge & sync Android tablets & my Kindle Paperwhite.

The I found out that a USB-C to USB-A cable in my collection was only good for data & power usage - when connected to the various sync-capable micro USB cable, syncing was no longer an option.
I ordered half a dozen USB-C to USB-A adapters from Amazon, they are fully sync-capable. I have one on each of three external drives, one on the USB Apple Superdrive, one on the SanDisk iXpand USB 3·0/Lightning device and the last is on a micro USB adapter on my keyring as a spare.
