Got my flat mostly cleaned up. In two days a fellow will give me a quote on the cost of removing the old horrible carpet from two bedrooms & the corridor, replacing it with vinyl imitation wooden “planks” very like the ones installed in the living room in 2009. We found some spare “planks” from that job & used them to reconstruct the top of a bedroom dresser unit that used to have a smoked glass top before that broke.
Then my sister & I will visit a hardware, etc store to get a 4-element induction cooktop, rangehood extractor fan/light for the kitchen & blockout curtains for my bedroom.
On Monday a brother fitted a new toilet & cistern to replace the 40+ year-old leaky one. Then sometime soon he’ll construct a 2.5 metre long computer desk to replace the current writing desk/dresser unit along a wall unencumbered by an intruding doorway.
The kitchen work will need to be done by a licensed electrician, when he’s finished that he’ll install a couple of double power points above the desk.
Once the two bedrooms & corridor are re-floored, I’ll consider having the third bedroom done the same way.
