Physiotherapist has given me a range of exercises to alleviate the discomfort from my nerve-damaged toes, those toes don't have a huge muscle-mass operating them, unlike the rest of the toes. The exercises are aimed at increasing the bloodflow to the affected areas.
He also showed how to exercise the left rotator cuff area that's responsible for my upper arm pain.
I have added more detail to my iMac spec-boost blog post published a couple of days ago.
While the specifications of the entry-level 27-in iMac (the one that offers no path to upgrading the processor, storage or graphics card) may appear mundane, in testing it outperforms the previous year's high-end iMac!
With the nerve damage to several toes at work some 13 years ago, I’ve been finding winter especially hard. Today I observed the toes that felt both cold & numbish were whier in colour than the healthy pinkish hue of the unaffected ones. I get the affliction more often when lying down, so I need to sit & stand much more than I have been doing. 90 minutes ago I was afflicted in those four toes and had been vigorously massaging them prior to joining a Zoom meeting. I ran out of massage time & had to leave the bedroom & sit in a chair in the office. Circulation has been restored to the affected area and the toes are no longer cold, althouh they are still a bit numb.
@matigo Technically a speed-bump, but quite a significant one. One YouTuber in his review said not to buy if you already have a 2017 iMac or newer.
Feeling for a couple of friends on the Mac User Group management committee: in the last 6 weeks both have bought high-end 27-inch iMacs, now thoroughly superseded.
I thought I'd compare the cost of a top spec iMac & a low spec iMac Pro, trying to keep things like RAM & drive space as close as possible.
The prices were very close, with the Pro version winning because of the Xenon processors.
Yorkshireman whose beloved pet whippet had sadly passed away asks a goldsmith to make a statue of it.
Goldsmith asks “Eighteen carat?”
“Nay yer daft lad, chewin a bone”….
@phoneboy I bought a box of 50 masks, they're compulsory to wear when outside for the next 6 weeks at least. I estimate there's around 35 left in the box.
For the last week under state of Emergency conditions we've had to wear masks while outside. This was to be reviewed on August 16. Not happening now, we've been downgraded to stage 4 restrictions under a state of Disaster until at least Sept 13th.
Folk complain about the ear loops of their masks hurting their ears over time. I have a solution.
My latest invention: EarSavers! Double-sided Velcro cable tie cut in half. One end of each half wraps around the elastic ear loop of a disposable (or otherwise) mask. Fit over the ears as normal then stretch the other ends behind the head and fasten to each other.
One day a florist went to a barber for a haircut. After the cut, he
asked about his bill, and the barber replied, 'I cannot accept money
from you, I'm doing community service this week.'
The florist was pleased and left the shop.
When the barber went to open his shop the next morning, there was a
'thank you' card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door.
Later, a cop comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill,
the barber again replied, 'I cannot accept money from you, I'm doing
community service this week.'
The cop was happy and left the shop.
The next morning when the barber went to open up, there was a 'thank
you' card and a dozen doughnuts waiting for him at his door.
Then a Member of Parliament came in for a haircut, and when he went to
pay his bill, the barber again replied, 'I cannot accept money from
you. I'm doing community service this week.' The Member of Parliament
was very happy and left the shop.
The next morning, when the barber went to open up, there were a dozen
Members of Parliament lined up waiting for a free haircut.
And that, my friends, illustrates the fundamental difference between
the citizens of our country and the politicians who run it.
