I can retire my old Ronson steam iron, its soleplate is scratched and it leaks water at inopportune moments. I only kept it this long (it's at least 15 years old) because it can be used cord-free or corded and anything remotely similar in the shops was far too expensive & no way was I going to use a conventional corded iron again.
Today ALDI had just the right thing on sale for $50, compared to the Ronson it's much easier to switch between cord & free modes.
Plus, power. Ronson is rated at 1600 watts, which is ⅔ that of the new Euro-Centra one.
I don't want to throw the Ronson out but realistically, there's no point retaining it.
